Claudine Isaacs, director of the Clinical Breast Cancer Program, reacting to a study concluding that preventive removal of healthy ovaries or breasts can dramatically cut risk of breast and ovarian cancers in women who carry the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation:
"We're recommending intrusive, invasive interventions. Now we can say that it reduces the risk of dying and that's a powerful statement."
