For the second year in a row, Georgetown University ranks as one of the top producers of U.S. Fulbright Fellows at research universities.

The Chronicle of Higher Education, the recognition comes after 10 Georgetown-sponsored students and recent graduates won
2009-2010 Fulbright awards. Four additional Georgetown alumni, who weren’t included in the listing, received fellowships through an at-large process.
“We take great pride in the accomplishments of this year’s Fulbright awardees,” said President
John J. DeGioia. “These are remarkable men and women working to make a difference around the world.”
Since the 2008-2009 academic year, 32 Georgetown students and recent graduates have been named Fulbright Fellows. And according to the university’s fellowship secretary, the pool of interested applicants continues to grow on campus.
“The robust growth in recent years of Fulbright applicants and recipients at Georgetown shows that globalism is a core value in the Georgetown experience,” said
John Glavin, university fellowship secretary and director of the Gervase Programs.
Sponsored by the U.S. State Department, the Fulbright program functions as an international exchange program for students, faculty and alumni, allowing them to conduct research, undertake graduate study and teach in schools all over the world.
